Medicare Part A
Medicare Part A is hospital insurance. Part A generally covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing care, hospice care, and limited home health-care services. You typically pay a deductible and coinsurance and/or copayments.
Medicare Part B
Part B covers expenses outside of your inpatient hospital fees. Part B provides coverage for doctor’s visits including ones that treat you in the hospital. Part B also provides Medicare coverage for lab work, preventive services, and surgeries.
Medicare Part D
Part D covers retail prescription drugs that you pick up yourself at the pharmacy or order via mail order. You choose a carrier and enroll in their drug plan, and that’s how you sign up for Part D drug plan.
